I’m studying for my English class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?
Since the primary use for fallacies in this class is to identify lapses in reasoning in other people’s arguments, that is what we will practice here. Your job is to find a fallacy somewhere in the media. It could be a clip from a TV show, a transcript of a news show (with panelists– not a standard evening news show), an opinion article, an advertisement from TV, a magazine, or even a billboard. The key limiting factor is that it must be something from the last 2 months, so you’ll have to find it on your own! Once you find your fallacy, write a post that includes the original source, provides a brief definition of the fallacy, and explains how the example you provided matches that definition. Also, comment on whether the fallacy compromises the argument as a whole or just one part of it.
