I don’t know how to handle this Management question and need guidance.

Prior to beginning this discussion, review this week’s required readings and weekly lecture. OSHA has valuable guidelines for both the employer and employee. The purpose of OSHA is to provide, as far as possible, safe and healthful working conditions for U.S. workers. Under the law, both employees and employers have a role and responsibility. For this discussion, you will discuss the rights and responsibilities of both employees and employers under OSHA. Depending on the first letter of last name, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of the employee or employer. If your last name begins with A-K, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of an employee and if your last name begins with L-Z, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of an employer.

In your initial post, take on the role you have been assigned to and examine how OSHA applies to you.

  • What are your rights and responsibilities?
  • How is it enforced?
  • What accommodations are available under OSHA?
  • What conditions must be met before an employee can refuse to work based on OSHA.

Your initial post should be at least two substantial paragraphs.

This week we are exploring laws that deal with employee accommodations. Please review the following Society for Human Resource Management article on HR and marijuana use: Marijuana in the Workplace: A Hazy Issue for Employers (Links to an external site.). For this discussion, you will take the role of a Human Resource Manager that has been asked to draft a drug policy and present it to the leadership team. Your job is to draft a drug policy for a State in which marijuana usage has been legalized in some form. Select a State and create a PowerPoint presentation for leadership that includes the following elements:

  • A title page.
  • An explanation of specific guidelines and/or laws pertaining to marijuana in your selected State.
  • A proposal for an organizational drug policy (e.g., medical use, organizational drug testing, zero tolerance, etc.).
  • A list of references (if applicable).

Attach your PowerPoint presentation in your initial post and briefly provide your peers with the State that you selected and the level in which marijuana use is allowed (i.e., recreational or medical use only).
