I’m studying for my Engineering class and need an explanation.

Consider the specs of a 3.5-liter Ford Eco boost engine.

Bore: 92.5 mm

Stroke: 86.6 mm

Compression ratio: 10.5:1

Although this engine is turbocharged, let us assume a naturally aspirated engine operating at an atmospheric pressure of 101.325 kPa. Assuming at the start of the compression stroke is at atmospheric pressure, develop a MATLAB code to plot

  • a)Thermal efficiency versus varying compression ratio between 10.5 and 16.
  • b)The change in temperature at the beginning of heat addition process versus varying compression ratio between 10.5 and 16
  • c)Consider the autoignition properties of 89 Unleaded gasoline and suggest which compression ratio will be the limiting condition for this fuel.
